Welcome to the Credit ESL Program-old
Our aim is to help students from different language and cultural backgrounds to achieve their academic and career goals by giving a solid foundation in academic English skills. Our mission is to help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge that will enable you to be successful in your future academic and career plans. We offer a friendly classroom atmosphere with classes taught by professional, caring and enthusiastic faculty.
The Credit ESL Program offers courses designed for students whose primary language is not English and are studying at LAVC in order to earn a degree or professional certificate, or transfer to another college or university to get a degree or professional certificate. These courses prepare non-native speakers with classes in grammar and writing, reading and vocabulary, and listening and speaking skills from the intermediate to the advanced levels.

ESL Assessment - Guided Self Placement Process
The ESL assessment is designed for students for who want to learn how to speak, read and write in English and/or English Language Learners coming from other countries who did not complete at least three years of high school in the U.S. We have six levels of courses from low-intermediate to college-level English composition, and the Guided Self Placement Process will help know which level is the right one for you.
The Guided Self Placement Process has two parts, and you need access to ZOOM and the Internet to complete both parts:
- Meet with a faculty member to choose the right level (about 15 minutes)
- Meet with a counselor to register for your classes (about 15 minutes)
Please contact @email to inquire about setting up the Guided Self Placement.
